Whitley Bay Beach, a golden sand Blue Flag award-winning beach, stretches from Whitley Bay North towards St Mary's Lighthouse. It is a popular place for recreation and is regularly used by walkers. The promenade and The Links have wonderful walks with the beach as a magnificent backdrop.

An annual sandcastle competition is held on the beach every summer which is popular with locals and visitors - especially children. There are plenty of places to get refreshments including the Rendezvous Cafe.

Road Directions

From the A1058 Coast Road continue to the seafront. Turn left and head through the village of Cullercoats to Whitley Bay. There are a number of access points and places to park.

Public Transport Directions

The beach is served by regular seafront buses. Whitley Bay and Monkseaton Metro Stations are both a 10-15 minute walk from the beach.
