Carl Smith runs away with 10k Road Race title
Over 2100 runners registered to take part in the annual North Tyneside 10k Road Race - one of the most scenic races in the UK.
The route of the Easter Sunday run started at the Parks Sports Centre in North Shields before heading down to the historic Fish Quay, up a challenging climb to Tynemouth Priory and Castle, a dash along a picturesque stretch of coastline and finished in the shadow of St. Mary's Lighthouse.
The 2014, and tenth anniversary, run was won by Carl Smith in a time of 32m 07s. Last year's winner Ian Hudspith was second in a time of 32m 46s. Ross Floyd was third. The leading female runner was Debbie Appleton from Essex in a time of 37m 58s.
