10k Road Race
The annual North Tyneside 10k Road Race, now sold out, takes place on Sunday 16 April 2017 (Easter Sunday).
The race starts at The Parks Sports Centre in North Shields before taking in the Fish Quay, River Tyne, Tynemouth Priory and a stretch of coastline before finishing at St. Mary's Lighthouse.
Organised by North Tyneside Council with support from Start Fitness and Northumbria Spring Water, the 6.2 mile event is always a sell-out and anyone wanting to take part is encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Entrants will receive a t-shirt and goody bag with their finish time supplied by text message.
Last year's race, the 12th running of the event, was won by Tadele Geremew in a time of 30m 41s. The winning female runner was Tadele's partner Justina Heslop in a time of 36m 01s.
The course record still stands at 30m 20s, set by Mongolian athlete Serod Batocir in 2011.
The North Tyneside 10k Road Race attracts a broad range of participants from club members to fun runners but, as a guide, anyone taking part should be able to complete the course in less than 1 hour 45 minutes.
