10k Road Race

The annual North Tyneside 10k Road Race was an Easter Sunday sell-out and was won by Tadele Geremew in a time of 33 minutes and 04 seconds.

The first female runner over the line was Alison Dargie in a time of 38 minutes and 09 seconds.

Full provisional results are here.

The race started at The Parks Sports Centre in North Shields before taking in the Fish Quay, River Tyne, Tynemouth Priory and a stretch of coastline before finishing at St. Mary's Lighthouse.

Organised by North Tyneside Council with support from Start Fitness and Northumbria Spring Water, the 6.2 mile event is always a sell-out and the 2018 run will be on sale soon.

The course record still stands at 30m 20s, set by Mongolian athlete Serod Batocir in 2011.
